MAH Registry Benefits

As part of the MAH Registry, Midwives Alliance of Hawaii aims to provide additional benefits to support licensed midwives while State administrative rules are being created and existing laws are being updated.

Breast Pump and Pregnancy/Postpartum Support Belt

Currently, as a member of the MAH Registry, you can submit requests for breast pumps, compression stockings and support belts to be ordered for your clients. You can request your client to review CalMedHawaii’s website for breast pump options. If they select a pump they can view their expected insurance company coverage as well as any potential additional charges prior to them deciding which breast pump they would like to order. You can also offer your clients to schedule a prenatal breastfeeding/pumping consult with Jodie Dresel, RN, IBCLC at CalMed Hawaii free of charge if they wish to discuss their specific needs. You can view compression stockings, maternity support belts, and the postpartum support brace that are available for clients via their insurance. 

Please note that most insurances cover at least one breast pump offered, and most insurances cover compression stockings and support belts/braces. By most I mean all of the main Hawaii health insurance plans including MedQUEST, but we won’t know until we order for out of state plans, union plans, etc. However, University Health Alliance (UHA) only covers a breast pump and does not cover these accessories, and Tricare covers a breast pump and compression stockings but not maternity or postpartum support braces. We are not able to order for clients with Kaiser insurance.
